Sybase Professional Services Helps Hong Kong Police Force Develop an Integrated IT Architecture
Overview The Hong Kong Police Force needed to integrate disparate systems to better coordinate law-enforcement activities across districts and more easily input and access information. The force chose Sybase technology along with Sybase Professional Services to provide it with the solution it was seeking. In selecting a consultant and vendor for its new architecture, the force was looking for a true partner. The new system has reduced paperwork, streamlined police operations, and resulted in a more effective police force and better service to the Hong Kong citizens. Sybase Professional Services partnered to design and implement an application based on Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise and PowerBuilder, which runs in each of the 70 offices. Replication Server ensures high availability by providing a warm standby so that data would always be available in each office and at headquarters-backup capability in the event of a crash or power failure anywhere within the network.
