Extreme BlackDiamond 6800 Destination Sensitive Accounting Solution

Overview Extreme Networks' Destination Sensitive Accounting (DSA) is a simple yet powerful solution implemented in both the Accounting and Routing Module (ARM) and the Multiprotocol Label Switch (MPLS) module, on carrier-class BlackDiamond 6800 series platforms. DSA enables fair billing of customer traffic through a variety of egress links that interconnect the carrier’s network with other service provider networks. Using the DSA solution, carriers such as optical metro service providers and Tier1 Internet service providers (ISPs) can differentially charge their customers based on the destinations of their IP unicast traffic. This is to encourage customers such as Tier2 ISPs to utilize the Tier1 ISP’s network, instead of merely using it as a short transit connection to a third-party ISP network.
