Distributed Content Services for Globally Extended E-Learning Environments

Overview Using technology from Saba and Cisco, organizations can deliver Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM)-compliant, media-rich learning content across their enterprises while maintaining application performance and optimizing the throughput on the network. This can be accomplished by prepositioning any rich media content across the wide-area network (WAN) to a Cisco edge device (content engine) during off-peak business hours. The content can then be retrieved at the network edge or at a remote office, at close to wire speeds from Cisco content engines on the local-area network (LAN). By offloading theWANlinks, the enterprise customer can maintain a uniform, high-quality viewing experience without affecting mission-critical WAN bandwidth.

This document explains how Saba and Cisco customers can realize these benefits by integrating Saba and Cisco products. In particular, this document describes how to use Cisco content engines to intelligently redirect HTTP requests in a Saba-SCORM runtime environment.
