Touch Screens White Papers

Touchscreen Case Study - BCX Technology, Inc.

Overview David Mason, president of BCX Technology, Inc., began automating the manual counting process for hospitals. Two years later, Mason arrived at the decision that would make the difference—he added hardware to his software solution in the form of a touch interface.

With AccuTouch now his preferred interface, Mason created BCX’s ScanREQ System that reduced the inventory control of hospital medical supplies to a two-step process. A ScanREQ system is installed at each nursing station and at other supply areas throughout the hospital where patient charging takes place. The nurse simply touches the screen for the room/patient to which the item is issued and then scans the item label or shelf label. The button on the touchscreen displays the room number along with the patient’s name. In this easy two-step process, the nurse performs a charge for the patient (if it’s a chargeable item) and debits the onhand inventory value of the ScanREQ Inventory Control Module in real time.
