Case Study - IBM & NetSetGo: Mobilizes Client's Sales with DB2 Everyplace

Overview For NetSetGo, an IBM Premier Business Partner and full-service Web integrator with 11 offices around the United States, being set to go includes thinking ahead on behalf of its 1,600 clients, and staying at the forefront of new technologies. So when Chase-Pitkin, a regional home improvement center in New York state, asked for help creating a Web-enabled order-entry solution for its Commercial Sales Division integrating with its point-of-sale (POS) fulfillment and accounting systems, NetSetGo went to work.

The vision was to extend the new Web infrastructure into a true sales force automation solution, enabling sales representatives to sit with customers at their locations, enter orders into handheld devices and transmit directly to the IBM AS/400 server which ran Chase-Pitkin's back-office system.

While researching current technology developments in mobile databases, NetSetGo contacted IBM's Data Management Group. During their discussions, IBM asked NetSetGo to participate in the IBM DB2 Everyplace Version 7.2 beta program, which ultimately proved to be the ideal choice for the Chase-Pitkin solution.
