Route-Maps: Filtering Based on AS Numbers

Overview As the internet continues to grow, the number of entries in the global BGP routing table will expand beyond the 100,000+ plus entries that it currently contains. As a routing table of this size can exceed the capacity of smaller routers, the use of route-maps to filter and reduce the number of entries in a particular routing table can be important. This paper describes the theory along with concrete configuration examples that would be useful for an individual configuring BGP on a Riverstone router.
