Remote Microsoft® SQL Server™ Use with IT Assistant
Overview Dell OpenManage™ IT Assistant (ITA) is able to use a Microsoft® SQL Server™-compliant database including MSDE 1.0, SQL Server 7.0, or SQL Server 2000. MSDE is the default database used by ITA, and is normally installed by ITA. But some users may prefer to use SQL Server as the ITA database, which offers higher performance and more features than MSDE. Versions of ITA prior to version 6.3 required that the ITA internal database reside on the same system as ITA. Many customers, however, prefer to run SQL Server on a dedicated server, and ITA version 6.3 has been enhanced to support this type of environment. This paper describes how to configure ITA version 6.3 and later to use Microsoft SQL Server running on a remote server.
