Policy-Based Antivirus and Content Security for the Messaging Gateway

Overview The increased usage and popularity of the Internet has influenced the development of the methods used to spread viruses. In the past, many computer viruses spread via floppy disks, but a new generation of email-borne viruses have emerged to threaten the corporate messaging system.

To overcome these problems, corporations need to employ a multi-layered approach to virus defense. An effective strategy should include integrated protection from the Internet gateway, groupware, file servers, and desktops. Relying on just one layer of virus defense, such as antivirus software on the desktop, is like designing a bank without a lock on the vault.
