Overview Since the introduction of IP VPN's, industry attention has focused on improving these services' capabilities to better meet the requirements of business customers and offer service providers with a compelling WAN alternative to layer 2 technologies (e.g. frame relay and ATM). Our assessments of service provider strategies have increasingly focused on the opportunities and challenges providers face in incorporating IP VPNs. In this paper, we look at recent developments in WAN services offered by Sprint and Worldcom.
