Higher-Order-Mode Dispersion Compensation for Broadband Dispersion and Non-linearity Management in Transmission Systems

Overview Dispersion compensation with a higher-order-mode of a fiber is emerging as a promising technique that can provide full dispersion and dispersion-slope compensation. In addition, the low non-linearity of this technology can improve system OSNR, leading to enhancements in transmission distances. This talk will describe the physics of this device, and review recent advances in this technology.
