Running Training Like a Business: a Look Ahead

Overview Organizations are becoming increasingly impatient with intangible training results. They want improvements in productivity and performance that visibly affect the bottom line. This case describes how traditional training operations must be restructured so that they operate like a business and keep up with the ever-changing business landscape. As a means to accomplish this, an innovative method called insourcing combines key internal resources with specialized external expertise. The training operation—after redesign—must also focus on “preresponding” to future issues and emerging technology as well as remaining flexible.
