Innovative Contracting
Overview In their contracting, facility managers often face the basic conflict of effectiveness for their organization (getting the job done) versus bureaucratic efficiency (crossing the t’s and dotting the I’s). While we sense some of the old "control at any cost" attitudes of centralized procurement are changing, facility managers often find themselves facing an overwhelming load of customer-oriented projects, maintenance and repair service orders and capital projects, each of which requires a timely solution without the necessary contracting tools to accomplish the tasks quickly. While facility managers are increasingly turning to outsourcing contractors, they have not necessarily been given (or sought) the innovative contracting tools to both get the job done and ensure that their fiduciary and contracting responsibilities are properly executed.
