Getting Started with Allaire Spectra
Overview One significant conceptual obstacle in getting started with Spectra, especially for experienced ColdFusion developers, is understanding that Spectra is built entirely around object-based site development. That means that every bit of data associated with a Spectra site is stored as a set of objects in database tables that are managed entirely and transparently by Spectra. You need not concern yourself with the details of how the data is stored. As a Spectra developer, you will not worry about how to manage data in a complex relational database system -- which has probably been one of your central concerns in the past. Instead you will define content objects and their properties, and code CFML templates to serve as handlers that manipulate those objects.
