Macromedia Generator 2 Enterprise Edition Performance

Overview This paper provides a technical analysis of the performance characteristics of Generator 2. Several workloads were run against Generator 2 to determine its scalability and responsiveness. Tests were run on Windows NT using Microsoft IIS and on Sun Solaris using Netscape iPlanet Webserver Enterprise Edition 4.0. Load tests were performed on a variety of different hardware configurations to determine Generator's responses to changes in hardware. In addition to documenting the performance characteristics of Generator, this paper also documents a methodology for performance testing and provides basic guidelines for performance tuning of the product. This paper does not compare performance analysis between Generator 2 and Generator 1. However, based on tests results for Generator 2, there is a 30% increase in performance from Generator 1 to Generator 2. Comparison data is not presented in this paper.
