The Challenges of Adding Storage
Overview
A comparision of the challenges of adding storage in traditional vs. NAS environments.
Managing growing storage environments, both in terms of new deployments and capacity growth for installed systems, is undisputedly one of the most challenging problems facing network administrators today. In fact, IDC estimates that overall corporate storage needs are increasing across all industries at an annual CAGR of 100
percent. In this paper, we address options available for adding storage capacity – in particular, server-captured storage (SCS), direct-attached storage (DAS), and network-attached
storage (NAS). We’ll compare these options with Tricord’s Lunar Flare™ NAS
appliance, which is aggregated into a cluster and managed as a single resource.
