SAN and NAS

Overview SAN and NAS are two ways to re-organize a system into a separately managed storage farm and server farm. In theory, separation of the storage and the server is like the tried-and-true “divide and conquer” military strategy that historically enjoyed great success. The end result should be a reduction of overall management complexity. SAN and NAS are two very different approaches to storage management and address two very different needs.
