Anti-Virus White Papers

W97M.Jishe.D (Symantec)

Overview W97M.Jishe.D is a simple macro virus that infects Microsoft Word documents and the Word macro template, Normal.dot. The only thing this virus does more than replicate is to display a message box. The message appears to be written in an Asian language. The replication of this virus is done by first checking the names of all macro modules in the document or template that it wants to infect. If the name of a macro module is not the same as the name of the viral macro module, then the macro module is removed. If no module matches the name of the viral macro module, then the virus inserts itself into the document or template.
