Component-Based White Papers

Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Lawson Software

Overview The most-often used components of a PKI are related to retrieving public keys in a reliable manner. Public keys are encapsulated in public key certificates. In addition to the public key itself, these certificates contain demographic information about the owner of the public key (name, expiration date, etc.), housekeeping information about the certificate itself (serial number, issuer, etc.), and a digital signature applied by the certificate’s issuer. The issuer’s signature on the certificate is needed to provide some proof of the binding between an identity (owner) and a public key.
