Advantages of Using NetMotion with GPRS Technology
Overview This paper outlines the main advantages to deploying NetMotion Mobility™ software in a GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) environment. GPRS offers a packet mode service over a wireless (cellular) interface (see TS GSM 03.60). By allowing the use of multiple slots in a TDMA frame, it enables user-level bit rates from 9 to more than 150 kbps. It supports applications based on standard protocols (IP, PPP, and X.25) and interworking with external packet data networks. The term Mobile Station (MS) is used in GSM technical specifications to denote a device holding both Terminal Endpoint (TE) and Mobile Termination (MT) entities. These entities might be physically separated or integrated into one. The GPRS network is the wireless infrastructure and is ultimately attached to an external Packet Data Network (PDN) that can be public or private.
