DB2 Universal Database for Windows: High Availability Support Using Microsoft Cluster Server - Overview

Overview DB2 UDB integrates with Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) to provide High Availability (HA) support when running under Windows operating system environments. A complete High Availability setup includes many parts, one of which is the MSCS software. A good HA solution includes planning, design, customization, and change control. An HA solution reduces the amount of time that an application is unavailable, by removing single points of failure. This white paper provides an overview of the integration between DB2 and MSCS that provides failover support. It describes the architecture as well as explaining how the failover process works.
