DWDM White Papers

Mux/DeMux Optical Specifications and Measurements

Overview Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) is one of the most effective answers to the ever-growing need for bandwidth that is being generated by the explosive growth of the Internet. Equipment providers, to the telecom and CATV industries, need to cost effectively increase the optical capacity within their transmission equipment to better support the bandwidth explosion. DWDM is meeting that need by increasing the number of wavelengths that can be added onto a single optical fiber. Equipment vendors must identify the proper wavelength mux/demux technology that will optimize their system design.
