e*ORBTM Technical Description
Overview The Vertel e*ORB extends the reach of CORBA technology and solutions from the enterprise domain to the embedded and real-time system domains. e*ORB is the carrier-grade ORB that meets the special CORBA needs of the telecommunications-management domain. The Object Management Group (OMG) is currently developing standards for CORBA in the embedded domain. The most significant and first adopted of these standards is that of minimumCORBA, a subset of CORBA that defines the smallest possible feature set while maintaining interoperability. CORBA enables CORBA-compliant application development on resource-constrained platforms – specifically embedded and real-time system environments. e*ORB uses the OMG’s minimumCORBA specification as its foundation.
