BEA Tuxedo®: the Programming Model
Overview This paper describes how you program BEA Tuxedo components. To give you the "big picture," we begin with a description of components and how they work in a 3-tier architecture. Then we describe the BEA Tuxedo component architecture. Components are the basic currency of your server applications. In the BEA Tuxedo system, components are the basic unit of execution, scale, distribution, protection, management, and connectivity. We then give you a detailed overview of BEA Tuxedo's rich set of API, which allows components to communicate via messages. BEA Tuxedo offers a broad set of options for intercomponent communications. We describe these options and include a programming example. We conclude with an overview of "Tuxedo under the covers": the BEA Tuxedo Architecture. This includes a description of Tuxedo's core components and their features.
