Directory-Enabled Networking

Overview Directory services are the cornerstone for creating intelligent networks. A directory service is a physically distributed, logically centralized repository of infrequently changing data that is used to manage the entire enterprise networking environment. Today, the computing environment that must be managed includes not only the computers themselves, but also the network devices that connect them. Extending networks to include directory services is a response to the new, more demanding requirements for network management by means of the directory.
