Object-Oriented White Papers

Object System Layer

Overview Library implementing an object system, object-oriented scripting language. Object-orientation helps in the design and implementation of complex software systems. Often object-oriented approaches can be used throughout the design, but (parts of) the implementation has to be done in a language that does not support object-orientation, like C or Cobol. Or the implementation has to be done in an object system, that does not support desired object-oriented techniques. For instance C++ or Object Cobol do not implement reflection or interception techniques. Suppose you want to design with object-oriented techniques and use the benefits of advanced object-oriented language constructs, but you are faced with target programming languages that are non-object-oriented, or with legacy systems that cannot quickly be rewritten, or with target object systems that are not powerful enough or not properly integrated with other used object systems (e.g. when COM or CORBA is used).
