How to Implement a Successful AM/FM Pilot Project

Overview The use of pilot projects is very common for AM/FM conversions. This is due to the complexity of the software and user procedures and because it represents a significant change in a firm's way of doing business. It is a means to test and refine the new system with a production data base before committing significant financial and human resources to a full scale conversion. As such, its purpose is to reduce risks and safeguard your company's assets. In essence, using a pilot approach is an admission that the system is too complex to be fully verified in a test environment. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the reasons to use a pilot approach for AM/FM projects. It will outline prerequisites for a successful pilot, the outputs of a pilot, and the objectives that a pilot should accomplish.
