TCP - IP White Papers

Using the SNMP Agent in Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Windows 2000

Overview Microsoft has an SNMP agent in Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows 2000. You can use the local loopback address of 127.0.0.1 to access the agent, even if you're not connected to a physical network. (You still need a network interface card with appropriate drives, and the TCP/IP protocol installed, as if you were connected to the network).
