Standards Related to Wireless LANs

Overview With the development of business, the need for mobile connectivity with network increases. If we survey the market then we can conclude that productivity and efficiency is being improved with WLAN. In this article the WLAN concepts and relative technology are introduced. WLAN has just emerged from merely several years, standardization is very necessary for customers and vendors. In this paper some promising standards related to WLAN will be discussed and compared. I will focus on the IEEE 802.11 that has won many supporters and HiperLAN2 standard that is the new generation for combination WLAN and Wireless ATM and so on. In the end of this paper the problems of WLAN standard are described.
