Access Mediation

Overview Access mediation is the arbitration of call control between disparate networks, resources, users, and services. This governance is done according to preestablished contracts or according to the immediate wishes of the call originator or the call recipient.

The advanced intelligent network (AIN) has been implemented successfully in many telecommunications companies to provide advanced calling services. Now, several forces are combining to create new needs that were not contemplated when AIN was architected.
