Sync Status Messages to Support Advanced Self-Healing Telecom Networks

Overview SSMs are identifiers that are embedded within the reference signals that are used as synchronization sources for Timing Signal Generators (TSGs) and other NEs. The identifiers carry information on the quality of the sync source to which the particular sync signal is traceable and whether the signal is available for use as a sync source. They are especially useful in the avoidance of timing loops, while allowing the TSG or NE to autonomously reconfigure to the most suitable synchronization source selected from the set of available sources. Datum-Austin is committed to the full support of Synchronization Status Messages in all synchronization equipment for the telecommunications market, and the Datum-Austin equipment presently has these features as described in a following section. Datum-Austin is also committed to maintaining this SSM support as the SSM standards evolve and are updated.
