SealedMedia™ Technical White Paper

Overview SoftSEAL technology currently supports file-based, buffered and streaming media in HTML, PDF, GIF, JPEG, MP3 and QuickTime formats 2. The SoftSEAL architecture is completely extensible, with new formats continually being added by SealedMedia and its partners. A Macintosh compatible SoftSEAL Viewer will be released early in 2001. This document is written for technical personnel, to provide an overview of the SoftSEAL technology and the SealedMedia licensing service built upon it. It describes in detail how publishers 3 and consumers use the licensing service and aims to give readers a better understanding of the issues they will need to consider when choosing a DRM solution. Such issues include how easily the solution can be integrated into existing systems and the consumer experience of the service.
