Intel Itanium Processor: High Performance on Security Algorithms (RSAD Encryption Kernel)

Overview The tremendous growth of the Internet has resulted in an explosion of e-Commerce Web sites. As e-Commerce continues to grow exponentially, security becomes a major issue on the minds of IT managers everywhere. Based on current measurements, the Itanium processor 660 MHz provides substantially better performance for the RSA public-key algorithm than what we estimate current competitive processors can provide. We fully expect this performance differential to remain in place as we move toward production-level frequencies. We expect the performance of the Itanium processor 800 MHz to scale linearly from that of the 660 MHz version.
