Answering the E-Business Performance Management Challenge

Overview The best solution to collect end-user response times is to place an agent on the user workstation. Why is it the best solution? Because the response time captured comprises the performance of all infrastructure components, including the user machine. Other technologies measuring network trips or sending a "synthetic" transaction does not provide the accuracy and precision of this approach. In the e-business world, however, this represents a true challenge: the user's system is out of reach and cannot be configured with the necessary agent. Here enters Java — the capability to download applets within the page sent to the user opens new horizons.
