Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) Architecture
Overview
Enterprise networks are no longer defined by the mere physical boundaries of the corporation: they encompass remote sites and offices which may be
spread across the country or around the world, and include mobile users and telecommuters. Partners, suppliers, service providers and major customers are increasingly part of the extended enterprise network, or Extranet. The wide area physical connectivity of the enterprise, traditionally achieved
through private leased lines, relies more and more frequently on shared public networks such as the Internet.
The boundaries of today’s enterprise networks are defined logically as a security policy, a set of rules that spell out access rights to information and to information resources. The security requirements for
the on line enterprise are many and complex. They may include access control, user authentication, data privacy, application control, virus protection, activity tracking and monitoring and more.
