IP Intelligent DSL Concentrators vs. ATM DSLAMs

Overview While the logical case for deploying Internet Protocol (IP)-based intelligence at the edge of the network is compelling, the most persuasive argument for standardizing on IP-optimized Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) concentrators is in the cost of ownership economics. The long-term and short-term costs of ownership for IP-optimized networking solutions are substantially less than the costs of ownership for traditional end-to-end virtual circuit networking solutions. In addition, service-intelligent networks offer more revenue-generation potential, making them the ideal solution to use for DSL deployment.
