Jini and Software Bus Systems
Overview This article describes the concepts of Jini and of Software Bus Systems as well as a possible joint venture of these two architectures. The technologies are built on top of the Java platform and can be used in embedded systems as well as in client/server systems. The Jini technology is a simple infrastructure for providing and gaining access to services in a network on the basis of TCP/IP. Software Bus Systems, on the other hand, use asynchronous communication based on publish/subscribe patterns. The Software Bus product described in this article is called iBus. The advantages of Jini and iBus may be combined, to generate new ideas and application areas.
