Disaster Recovery White Papers

Key Escrow vs Key Recovery

Overview The US administration has now recognised the commercial reality of the situation, and requires only Key Recovery and not Key Escrow for export of strong encryption. This is the only method allowing recovery of the transmitted session under the full control of the organisation operating the security system. It also provides much greater protection to individual privacy, and is thus much more acceptable to commercial organisations implementing electronic commerce. Every time you engage in a commercial transaction of any sort on the Web, send sensitive information via e-mail, or even simply browse a Web site, you are in danger of revealing private information about yourself or your company to individuals or groups that will modify that information.
