Optimization Techniques for RISC Microprocessors
Overview In this paper, we will examine some of the important new optimizations required to maximize the performance of embedded software applications executing on RISC architectures. Before discussing individual optimizations in detail, we will begin with a brief overview of the different components of compiler technology and then discuss, from a compiler design perspective, some of the more important ways in which RISC architectures differ from their CISC counterparts.
