IP Multicast Protocols and Applications

Overview IP Multicast is an exciting new technology for use on today's busy networks. By allowing a source to communicate with multiple receivers and yet send only one stream of data, multimedia applications can be easily deployed without congesting the network. With the use of IGMP and IP Multicast routing protocols in routers and eventually IEEE 802.1P and GMRP in switches, more efficient use of bandwidth will be possible.
