NOMEX® Insulated Conductor

Overview For a reasonable increase above the cost of conventional cellulose insulated conductor, many benefits associated with the properties of NOMEX® conductor Insulation can be realized. Benefits include increased thermal, electrical, and mechanical capabilities for your power transformer rewinds.

The high temperature stability of NOMEX® (hot spot temperatures of 200ºC can be tolerated) results in negligible insulation aging at normal or overload conditions. Nomex® insulation will not embrittle, and therefore, decomposition products will not affect the life of the total dielectric system. NOMEX® insulation will not degrade transformer oil with the release of CO, CO2 and H2O. NOMEX® conductor insulation is insensitive to moisture, having less than half the moisture absorption of cellulose.
