Linking Analytic and Operational Applications

Overview Throughout the 1990s, many corporations implemented packaged business applications to automate core operations such as order management, payroll, and procurement. These processes, however, fell short because they did not enable ongoing measurement against goals to support process improvement. Analytic applications pick up where most packaged business applications leave off, guiding strategy formulation and operational improvement. Organizations are now looking to extend business processes to support analytic activities such as market segmentation and forecasting, budgeting and planning, and workforce analysis and optimization.
