The Emerging Internet Marketplace and the ACH Network

Overview It is often said that the only constant is change. That certainly rings true in electronic commerce. User acceptance of the Internet and the World Wide Web is unprecedented in its pace and scope. Although Internet-based commerce is still in its relative infancy, the level of investment and the work that is being conducted around the world in this space virtually ensures that there is no turning back. The Internet, digital signature legislation, electronic commerce strategy, and a host of related technology, policy, and business topics are high on the agendas of state, provincial, and national governments around the world. Security, capacity, and control issues that were viewed as obstacles a few years ago are being resolved. Of course, there will always be challenges and unforeseen developments, but also opportunities.
