Overview Configuration Management is the enabling technology which provides the "missing link" in a PDM solution by placing a heavy emphasis on coordination, identification, change control, status accounting, and audits. Configuration Management is the "glue" which maintains synchronization between parts, documentation and change data from design to manufacture and support. The integrated processes of Configuration Management and Product Data Management (CM/PDM) work together to produce, identify, document, control, record, and report the functional characteristics and physical configuration baselines of both hardware and software throughout the design-to-retirement product life cycle.
