High-Speed Mobile Connectivity with CardBus: The New 32-Bit PC Card Interface for Today's Notebook PCs and Fast Ethernet LANs

Overview The CardBus standard puts high-bandwidth connectivity in notebook PC users' hands today, giving them equal standing with desktop PC users in terms of performance, applications, and resource access. This new 32-bit interface is expected to rapidly supplant the original 16-bit PC Card standard, especially with the proliferation of Fast Ethernet networking and multimedia applications. The upshot is that evolution to the CardBus standard will likely speed the trend toward notebook PCs as the primary computing platform for a growing number of enterprise knowledge workers.
